I'm asking for donations towards seven tablets in order to incorporate more technology into our health classroom. We do currently have an interactive whiteboard; however, it really only allows one student to use it at once. I don't want my students to simply know facts and vocabulary words; I desire for them to have the skills to live a healthy life.
The seven tablets will allow students to be more engaged and provide more opportunities for them to practice health skills. This technology will also create opportunities for students to complete tasks at their own pace, collaborate with classmates, and receive instant results from formative assessments. Many of my students are visual learners and the tablets would allow students to see presentations in their hands, rather than trying to see over other students to the projection board. ELL and low readers would benefit from the quick access to translation and dictionary apps.
Currently, about 1/2 to 2/3 of my students have some sort of device to access the apps we will use next semester. Students who do not have their own device will be allowed to use one of the new tablets or a used device that was donated to the class.
