Having a place for students who need to have a cool-down area in the classroom will give the classroom students an opportunity to learn without interruptions. We have students with autism that have sensory issues that need a quiet place to work within the confines of the classroom. We have occasional meltdowns as well as several students who need one on one instruction. Right now my classroom is an open floor plan where an aide goes into the hallway or another room with the students if needed.
The absorbing walls will be used around my round work table at the back of my room where the students will still feel safe.
