My students cannot sit still. They sit, they stand, they shake their knees up and down, but more importantly they tip their chairs back every single day. This not only makes an annoying creaking sound that disrupts everyone in class, but it's dangerous to the student and those around them. A month ago I brought in some gaming chairs I found at a garage sale. The kiddos LOVE them! They are much more focused and continue to stay on task when sitting in those chairs. They are also more apt to pay attention and listen to what I say to them.
So I thought, " Why not bring in a plethora of seating choices and let them choose where they want to sit each day?" I sit in several spots in the classroom throughout the day, so they should be able to also.
Your donation will allow the students to have many more seating choices, which gives them more control over their own learning environment. Students are told what to do the moment they step in the front door, this opportunity gives them more freedom of choice. They will be able to have a different seating choice that gives them an optimal learning environment based on their needs each day. A comfortable student is a student who is open to learning and to having a growth mindset. I believe that alternative seating will inspire the student's to improve their grades, attitudes, and participation.
