Students will be using the 5 Adult/Child Manikins and 2 Infant Manikins and accompanying Plastic AED Practi-Trainers during our Safety Unit in 10th and 12th grade Health. Students will apply the skills they are learning with a hands-on opportunity to completely understand and demonstrate these lifesaving techniques. The manikins will provide immediate feedback based on the proper head tilt-chin lift and compression location. After learning the skills and practicing with the manikins and AEDs, the students will work in stations to provide different skills and techniques for a variety of medical emergencies.
This project would significantly help my students' ability to act in an emergency situation. They would be able to combine the anatomy we have previously studied and these techniques to make the world better a place. In the end, they will be problem-solvers, empowered to take the skills and knowledge in their class to potentially save the lives.
