Students will read the book Middle School, Worst Years of My Life by James Patterson. While reading students will participate in a discussion, comprehension activities, vocabulary building exercises as well as comparing and contrast the novel with the movie. After students have completed the book they will be allowed to view the movie making their reading come to life. This book is a very exciting and popular read for middle school aged students. My students have limited availability to lower level reading materials, that also are appropriate for their age level. This book will allow students the opportunity to read something that is new and exciting that is appropriate to their ability level, and will provide them with the opportunity to get excited about reading again.
