My students are loving, energetic, and eager to learn. When given the opportunity to interact with each other in engaging activities they always rise to the occasion and surpass even the highest teacher expectations. They are always searching for ways to improve their skills and to become lifelong learners. We are a highly impoverished school in one of the poorest counties in California, with a high population of ESL students. We have a large emphasis in literacy and increasing student achievement for all students no matter their ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or home life and previous school struggles. Since funding in education has decreased, purchasing specific classroom materials is generally left up to the staff's personal funds.
