I would like to use this document camera in order to build the foundation skills needed to succeed in school (such as reading comprehension, note taking, counting, and organization to name a few)! As stated above, these students have not been to school for years, if at all. One class alone has 24 students and all have different skills, needs, and abilities. Right now, I have projector to project the worksheet; however, I need to erase my work and scroll the page down. If I need to refer to a prior example, I cannot because of the current set up. If my students had the document camera, this means I can project proper note taking and annotating.
Students will also be able to project their own work to the class and have their peers critique and suggest corrections. In addition to the document camera, we also need binders and dividers to house our organized notes. In my class, we have five sections (Agenda, Vocabulary, Notes and Worksheets, Homework, and Tests and Quizzes). Every worksheet that is handed out is to be filed in a specific section to help build skills for success. Many students come to school with a notebook and pencil in a plastic bag and do not have the funds for school supplies. By providing them with a binder on their first day at a brand new school in a brand new country, we can provide a setup that can cultivate success in the math classroom.
