My students are ELL and need to have pictures to help reinforce the new vocabulary they are acquiring. In order to make this easier, I need cardstock to make pictures of essential vocabulary. For example, if I say the word cookie I might get puzzled looks. However, if I show my kids a picture of a cookie they immediately know what I'm talking about. The post-it notes are a transitional tool to help students write sentences on their own. For example, if I want them to write "I see a dog", they would each get four post-it notes. It serves as a visual so that students learn about spacing as well.
To you cardstock and post-it notes might seem a tad ordinary. However, I find these tools to be everyday necessities for my students to become successful bilingual students in reading, writing, and organizing.
In order to make my students more organized, I am asking for the chair organizers. We have limited space and my kids need quick access to all of their materials.
