The initial exposure to literature for students at a young age is crucial. Students must be engaged in the stories of books in order to appreciate the true meaning of reading. I read a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts to my students on a daily basis. These read alouds help me teach the foundational skills that my students need in order to grow into proficient readers.
Your generous donation will help my students gain the love of reading!
These books will help me teach the North Carolina Common Core Standards in a fun and creative way for my kindergarteners. I will be able to bring the parts of a story (characters, setting, problem, solution, etc.) to life through captivating and artistic pieces of literature. I will also be able to integrate key science and social studies concepts as stated in the North Carolina Essential Standards.
