Utah State Early Childhood standards state; by the end of preschool, children need to demonstrate control and balance through a wide variety of locomotor movement.
Preschool children need to play in order to improve balance and control of gross motor skills. This equipment would provide an opportunity for all my students to engage in movement and play regardless of their size or mobility while facilitating motor development and learning at the same time.
The Foamnasium Adventure play set would be used as a safe play space for all my students including those who are less mobile and unbalanced. Students can crawl through tunnels, climb stairs, and slide down slides as they engage in active play with peers.
The Step A Forest would be used for facilitating class games like follow the leader, skill building activities, and free play to improve . The wooden rocking boat has two purposes. The one side would be used for my very young less mobile students to practice climbing up and going down stairs. The other side would be used as a rocker to help calm and provide a sensory activity for my students with autism. The crocodile Hop Floor would be used for teacher directed activities specific to skill building including balance, control, color, shapes, numbers, and turn taking.
