In building lifelong readers, I strive to provide my Kindergarteners with engaging texts on their level as well as a colorful, kid-friendly place in which to read. These books will continue to enhance my print-rich classroom that is vital to future literacy success. In addition, on the alphabet carpet I share daily read alouds, we sing and dance to further oral language, we play games and we experience class meetings and they complete literacy station activities there. Much of our happy day together is spent on the rug as we build excitement for the wonderful world of reading and beyond!
