I believe that if we can help meet the basic need of filling their bellies with good food then we can help support the next level of their Social-Emotional Learning. Through our Family Involvement program, we are encouraging parents and extended family members to join us at the table to enjoy and connect with the students at lunchtime.
When families eat together and connect, there are nutrition, health, social, and mental benefits. With many of our families, it is a challenge to eat together and to connect with each other. People of all ages eat better when they share a meal with others. Eating together also gives young children the chance to learn more words and how to communicate more effectively. With these tables and table conversation starters we believe that we can grow our student's vocabulary and social-emotional learning.
