Last year I had 4 iPad minis to use in my classroom and we tried to utilize them as much as we could. This year I hope to have enough iPad minis to have 1 for every 3 students. We also need the cases to protect them from being used by kids. I have learned about many different apps to help students in their learning. The Adobe Voice app lets students present information through pictures using their own voice! We also use Google Docs, Slides, and Forms to share our work with each other as well as students in other classrooms. The students have created beautiful covers for their written work using Pic Collage. The possibilities really are endless and the more technology we have in the classroom, the more we can do. We learned last year that the iPad minis are so much quicker to access than laptops.
By using iPad mini on a daily basis in my classroom, I am teaching the students how to use 21st century tools to enhance their learning.
We are preparing students for jobs that don't even exist yet, therefore introducing my third graders to technology will teach them skills that they will take with them through the rest of their lives. It will also teach them independence and boost their confidence.
