Let's face it, reading at this moment in time can be difficult and boring to our students. Graphic novels use images in the form of a comic strip to tell stories. Pictures, illustrations, and a lot less text, allow graphic novels to help students practice reading in an exciting way. Just like traditional novels, graphic novels have exciting and complex plots, characters, and conflicts. The plots have twists and turns. Characters are developed and dynamic. Conflicts are presented, unwound, and resolved like they are in other texts. The only difference is that graphic novels have more images to support the development. ( scholastic.com)
