I teach 7th grade Physical Education to students with a variety of fitness levels. Having access to more intense fitness equipment will enhance my core curriculum by teaching the students about high intensity activity.
With the rise in sedentary activities becoming more prevalent in today鈥檚 youth, I try to teach my students that fitness is still an integral part of life. I try to create fun, exciting, and challenging activities for each student in order to show them that staying fit can be fun, and also can be very rewarding. When I have a student who is a star athlete, I worry that I am not reaching his/her full athletic potential because I don't want to make an activity so rigorous that other students may not succeed. I often use homemade med balls, and have purchased a couple of battle ropes for my students to use. Unfortunately, I do not have adequate funds to purchase enough battle ropes to make enough of an impact on my entire class. If I had enough Battle ropes to use during my lessons, I would be able to effectively train my students on high intensity activities.
