My classroom goal is simple. All of my kindergarten students will be readers by the end of this school year.
In order to reach this goal, I give individualized instruction, meeting each student at his/her current academic level, learning style, and area of interest.
This includes giving some students a video to watch, a tutorial, or an audio-book to listen to, while others may be receiving group instruction. In all these instances actually hearing and understanding the content is huge!
The listening center will help my students focus on the individualized lessons they are receiving because they are able to phase out the distractions around them.
A listening center will give my students a chance to clearly hear the content they are given. Clearer content, focused learning, and fewer distractions add up to successful steps toward reaching our goal of 100% literacy in June 2020.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
