My high school students are required to have TI-30XS calculators for their science and math courses. They use these on a daily basis to complete their various classwork and homework assignments, along with their tests.
The vast majority of my students do not have the funds to provide pen and paper, much less a calculator. These calculators would allow them to complete their work and be successful in their courses.
Without calculators, my special education students are not able to complete basic mathematics operations. They rely heavily on these devices to assist them in being successful in their everyday work.
