Living in a small, rural town, many of my students have little access to opportunities, especially those in the microbial world. These students and our school has little money available for basic supplies like pencils and paper, let alone for items like pond ecosystem kits and a microscope to use to view the microbes that live in that world.
Through this project, my students would have the opportunity to view an ecosystem they otherwise would never see. It would allow them to study the living microbes in this ecosystem and how these organisms rely on one another. The microscope especially will open their eyes to a world the did not even know existed.
