Playing games and reading stories in the target language will help students practice the language they are learning without even realizing they are practicing because it will be fun! Using word games will help students not only increase their vocabulary but also use what they have learned. Reading familiar stories in the target language allows students to see the grammar concepts they are learning in context while also exposing them to new grammar. I plan to give the verb cards to my Spanish 2 students who will be moving on to a new teacher for Spanish 3. It is my "best of luck" gift for these students whom I have had for Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. Comprehensible input is a language learning technique that emphasizes reading and telling stories in the target language using vocabulary and grammar mostly familiar to the students but also a bit above their comprehensibility level. I plan to use the short stories and storybooks while using the comprehensible input teaching model. Thank you for your consideration in funding this classroom project.
