In this technological age, I am always looking for new and inventive ways to keep my students motivated and engaged in their learning. With the achievement demands so great in 1st grade, it is imperative that students have a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics. Without these skills, they are at a disadvantage when learning to read and process information. Throughout the day, students rotate through various independent learning stations to reinforce literacy skills and to connect their learning through authentic practice. Through the use of Amazon Fires, I feel the students would be excited about practicing skills they have learned in a different way. Students would have access to numerous apps and activities geared towards strengthening their skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading. In addition to this, exposing students to Listen & Learn Phonemic Awareness activities and Vocabulary Folder Games enables them to learn by doing. These opportunities would be invaluable to my students.
With your donation to this project, you are investing in the success of my students and ultimately improving the quality of their educational experiences. By putting the power of technology and real-world applications in their hands, students will take ownership of their learning.
