Each morning my students come in and start the day on a rug for morning meeting. Here we go over our schedule for the day and often play a team game. This is crucial to the structure and setup of our day, as the students begin by feeling empowered and start off with a sense of community.
This rug will provide a safe and inviting space for my students to come together and learn together. Specifically, this rug provides a large space for us to do this. It also showcases an accurate map of the world which will be the jumping off and reference point to many of our class discussions. It is critical for students to have a perspective that is bigger than themselves, and looking at the world each and every day will be a good place to start!
