Who doesn't love coffee? Coffee is a universal love language and opens up so many doors for conversations, social interactions, and communication opportunities. I am looking to start 鈥淐offee Cart Fridays鈥 to increase these social opportunities for special education students who have a variety of language or communication deficits. This coffee cart would aim to allow my students to fulfill coffee orders and to deliver those coffees to faculty and staff members throughout the school gaining a new form of social interaction.
This coffee cart would allow my students to use words, pictures, or alternative communication devices to interact with faculty and staff members in a new, fun way.
Order sheets for coffee or tea would by due by Wednesdays for the order to be fulfilled on Friday morning. My students would use a total communication model to complete orders in the classroom then deliver them to faculty and staff on the coffee cart. This would increase the number of social interaction opportunities and communication partners these students have access to throughout the week.
