My students need sensory exploration materials including Theraputty, kinesthetic sand, nesting cups, shape sorters, etc.
My students are learning to function within a general education classroom. Many of them have sensory needs that prevent them from fully accessing both the curriculum and the social aspect of preschool. These needs can be met in the classroom in a way that is fun and engages all of the children.
These materials will help my students to get their sensory needs met, while just being typical kids! They will get to move their bodies throughout the school, play in sensory bins next to their friends and engage in heavy work activities. They will crawl through the tunnel and stretch with the stretchee to gain proprioceptive input, the hop-along ball with also help with proprioceptive input, playing catch of rolling along the sensory balls will provide both heavy work and tactile input. We can combine all of the materials to make a sensory obstacle course that will provide input while letting the students engage, appropriately, with their same age peers. These materials will allow my students to improve their focus, participation and social skills without them realizing they are doing "specialized work".
