Blessed to support, teach and encourage students in one of the most restrictive school settings in NYC. As a District 75 school we support students who have disabilities that often impair their ability to be successful in community school settings. (For more info visit: http://schools.nyc.gov/academics/specialEducation/D75/default.htm)
I'm a transplant to New York City and I was recruited here to teach in some of the hardest to staff areas (subject, student population). Teachers at my site labor tirelessly, against some of the most devastating odds, to instill a sense of self worth in our students.
I've found that my students need consistency, engaging lessons, high academic and behavioral expectations, care, and a true investment (on the part of all supporting staff) to develop who they are - so that they can reach their full potential outside of the school walls.
