My current rug doesn鈥檛 have enough individual spots for my students. My classroom rug is the space in my classroom that gets the most use. It鈥檚 where my kindergarten classes start and end each day.
It鈥檚 where we gather to sing songs, learn new words, listen to stories, practice counting to 100, learn about social skills, and learn new letters. It is also where we all gather together in a circle to learn new math concepts and to practice math skills that we have already learned.
I meet with my kindergarten students in groups according to their levels to practice their reading. They each have a book box that they use to keep all their materials in for the day. Our current box boxes have been well loved and they are falling apart. Over the years our cardboard boxes have become ripped and broken. I would love to get plastic book boxes that can be used year after year.
The writing program that I use in my classroom has mentor picture books that go along with the lessons. I have a few of the books that go with the writing series in my classroom, but most of the time I have to go out and find the books when I teach each lesson. Right now I try to find the books at the local city library, but they do not always have all of the books or the books are checked out when I need them. I would love to have the books in my classroom readily available to use whenever I need them to use with my writing lessons.
I would love to have a classroom set of oil pastels crayons for my kindergarten students to use in class when we complete various projects to increase engagement.
