My kindergarten class is comprised of 26 amazing students. They are kind and thoughtful scholars! Most of my students are English Language Learners. Some come from bilingual households but most are the first ones in their family to learn English. My students receive free breakfast and lunch at school, along with free uniforms. 80% of the families are unemployed. I also have students that are in foster care. Regardless of what is going on at home, my kindergarten students are eager to learn. They want to be successful and like to come to school. For most of them it is their first time in school and they have not had the benefit of preschool or the experiences that come with going to preschool. I have learned that my students learn best with hands-on learning activities and real-life integrated curriculum that is relatable to my students. Overall, my students are amazing.
