I teach at a low-income school with more than 85% of the kids receiving free or reduced lunch. We qualify for breakfast after the bell due to our low-income status. My kids come from homes that many adults wouldn't enjoy living in, and they bring a lot of baggage to school. All of this makes paying attention and learning difficult. Having an actual place to sit would give them something to "own".
