My Spanish language students need at home basics for learning! Normally, our class sets of supplies suffice, but students will be in separate locations for learning until we can get our community spread numbers down. Help me make learning equitable for all of my students by supplying them with the basics. Each student will receive an "Apple of My Learning" supply bag filled with: pencils, pen, pencil sharpener, colored pencils, highlighter, scissors, construction paper, glue stick, index cards, and sticky notes. I have already bought one hundred and seventy composition notebooks for my Spanish One students. They will be using these as interactive notebooks to take notes on the right hand page. On the left, they will apply their learning through games (some examples include: Loteria with vocabulary, board games to learn conjugations), illustrated labeling (some examples include: labeling magazine clippings, labelled self portrait, labelled family tree), clock and weather spinners, and cultural or literary imagery guides to name a few. The "Apple of My Learning" supply bag will provide access to success tools to complete these learning application activities, as well as personal inquiry based projects. The AP Spanish students will be using the "Apple of My Learning" supplies, binders, dividers and loose leaf paper to improve their reading and listening comprehension, free-response skills, in addition to producing collaborative community-based public service announcements. To improve their reading comprehension skills, the students will take Cornell notes and complete T-charts on the binder paper. They will then use these in virtual breakout discussions like Socratic Seminars, Philosophical Chairs and Fishbowls. Throughout the entire year, they will improve the interpersonal and presentation, free-response skills through writing and speaking activities. The dividers will allow them the organize their materials, notes and rubrics for these activities, as well as collaborative projects.
