My students have their desks overflowing with independent reading books. It will be nice to see my students have an easier access to choosing books to read by placing their independent reading books in chair pockets. Chair pockets help students to have independent reading books to read at their fingertips. They do a lot of their extra reading in the classroom. I will be excited to see their shining faces running out of the classroom toting their reading bags home with a bag full of books for extra reading.
We are a team of readers! We are one! We are a family of readers that loves reading in our classroom and at home!
During independent reading, the students get a chance to sit with a partner and share one of their favorite books. They enjoy taking turns reading aloud with a partner. It is amazing to have an opportunity to observe them practice reading fluently with a
partner. Independent time will move more smoothly if they are able to access their reading books quickly and quietly. Chair pockets help students to maintain storage spaces for their independent reading books. As a result, students are able to keep class materials organize in their desks. To help the students to improve their reading levels they need books to read at home. My students will benefit from having reading bags with a pocket full of books to tug home every day for extra reading. My students will grow to become lifelong readers.
