I teach in an inner city neighborhood charter school in Oklahoma. We serve the kids in a high crime and high poverty neighborhood. Over 90% of our kids are on free and reduced lunch. A lot of our kids come from difficult situations. Our school goes above and beyond to meet the needs of each child. I have never seen or been a part of a staff that works together so well. There is something truly amazing happening in our school. Together, we are able to meet the needs of our kids in all areas. One of the greatest needs for my class is the integration of technology as a learning tool. We live in a technology driven world and most of the time, the use of a computer is only available at school. We are also limited in the amount of time we can use the computers at school. In order to truly prepare these kids for their future, I need the help of extra technology in our class to support the state standards and to ensure that students get time and extra practice necessary to be successful.
