These First Graders are from countries all over the world: Afghanistan, Albania, Honduras, Congo, Guatemala, Honduras, Sudan and so many more. Chapman Academy has served students from 117 different countries. These students work hard and quickly progress to fluent speakers, readers and writers of English. They learn all subjects while they acclimate to American culture in a safe and nurturing environment. While many arrive traumatized from war, violence and extreme poverty, they quickly begin to make friends and thrive in their classroom community.
Students learn to love and accept one another and form strong bonds with those from different cultures. This early learning changes them into citizens of the world, who want to share and spread the message of peace.
