Using flexible seating options for my students will allow them to learn in a way that works best for their body and mind. When students have choices in their learning environment, they start to take more ownership in their learning which leads to higher success rates. Little bodies aren't meant to sit still, moving while learning helps students succeed. I plan on having many different seating areas for the students. The wobble chairs will help my students who enjoy sitting while working but have a hard time sitting still. Being able to move around while working will help them concentrate on the task at hand. The stability cushions will be used at a table that is set all the way to the ground. These cushions will act as a chair. The soft seats be used anywhere in the room where the student chooses to work. Having lap trays and clipboards allows the students to sit anywhere in the room to work. This helps them stay focused and choose to move away from students who are distracting them.
Integrating the 2 iPads into the classroom will allow me to differentiate my students' learning in a fun and engaging way! I plan to use mine as a tool to read to students and engage them in hands-on reading, writing and math activities. It is also a great way to track my students' progress and share that progress with parents using online portfolios.
