Manchester High School Central is made up of 5 buildings, built at different time periods from the late 1800s to the early 2000s. The difference in architectural styles is clearly evident and appreciated by all. All of our buildings have their own beautiful qualities, including tin ceilings, elaborate entrance ways, small alcoves and exposed duct work along with the usual student lockers and display cases. This project will give the students an opportunity to display their talents while enhancing the unique architectural elements of our 5 buildings.
Creating murals throughout the school by incorporating common elements will promote student learning, creativity and our student's artistic talents. Street artist Tom Bob is our inspiration for these murals. Walking through NYC you can find his Clever Street Murals where a sewer cover has been turned into a frying pan or a row of gas meters turned into lobsters. It's creativity like this that can inspire another generation to the visual arts and promote learning within the classroom. The art classroom can be an inviting classroom where students are engaged and enthused about learning. The Clever Murals will help promote this idea through their creativity and inviting subjects.
