I have 16 children in my classroom, 6 are English Language Learners (ELL) with little to no English at the beginning of the year. My school is a high poverty school with every student receiving free breakfast and lunch. My students are eager to learn and explore as they make connections to the classroom materials that surround them. Young children are tactile learners. They touch and feel their learning tools. They practice newly acquired skills over and over again making a permanent mark in their memory for future learning. These alphabet tubs will quickly become a favorite tool as we say the objects over and over, create stories with the objects and compare/contrast the objects within the tubs.
