The school we attend is a Title 1 school which is considered high poverty. Many of my student athletes are young women who have not found their "calling" in school. For most, volleyball is their only extracurricular activity. Volleyball provides a unique opportunity since all girls begin playing at the same age. Volleyball also gives them life skills that they may not have acquired at this point in life such as teamwork and perseverance.
