My school is a large, Title I school with a diverse student population from varying economic backgrounds. We educate over 1200 kids from pre-k to 5th grade. Resources can be limited, particularly for music. I teach second graders Spanish in a dual language program (Spanish-English), designed to teach kids fluency in both languages.
My students enjoy music, and it increases their interest in learning a new language in a very entertaining way. In my classroom, music is used to remove language barriers. It inspires my students to become creative and independent.
