We are starting the school year with full-time distance learning. The materials I have requested will be used to enhance the digital learning experience for my students, to better connect with my students, and engage them in authentic science learning from home. Often, students need to be walked through examples, and the requested equipment will more effectively help me show students how to do things like make models, balance equations, and make correct graphs step by step.
I hope to bring out the natural curiosity in each of my students with engaging activities like virtual escape rooms, and learning by thinking critically to solve everyday problems.
The materials purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers will help me obtain ready-made materials that align with the Next Generation Science Standards. The virtual escape rooms will be used as an engaging way to determine mastery of specific performance expectations. The goal is for my students to practice problem-solving skills while interacting with and learning the course content. Here is some of the specific content that students can show mastery of via an escape room activity: balancing chemical equations, writing names and formulas of ionic and covalent compounds, creating Lewis structures, and mole conversions. I want all of my students to feel supported, valued and successful during these sometimes isolating times. I want my students to move forward with confidence in their ability to explain everyday phenomena with scientific evidence.
