It is well known that young children learn best through many avenues of play including play involving the senses. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, young children may have been isolated and could have missed out on wonderful ways to strengthen their academic skills using social, problem solving, and sensory play. Play is an essential part of brain development, especially when using the senses, which is why a Color Changing Light Table would directly benefit all learners.
The Color Changing Light Table will be used everyday in my classroom to enrich math and literacy concepts. The students will engage in sorting, patterning, and counting along with letter identification and handwriting using the light table and materials I have asked for with this project.
