Students at School for the Highly Gifted go through a three-tier process testing cognitive abilities, IQ, and subject mastery to become admitted into our charter/specialized school within Grand Prairie I.S.D. Many of our students often could take a STAAR test on day one of school and pass . They may be one to two to even four grade levels ahead of their peers. However, high levels in one area do not necessarily mean they are gifted in another area such as math, reading, writing, science, social studies, or even social and emotional skills. They may even have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other challenges such as anxiety disorders or ADHD. It is for all these reasons that our school was formed to challenge, train, and remediate as needed these exceptional students to reach their potential through individualized plans that include their parents' and child's input.
