This project is about empowering students through music to learn about the world and then share their learning with others. My 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will have the opportunity to learn to read musical notation and then perform various music on pitched classroom instruments. They will learn about music history, geography and science and put it all together by performing different songs on instruments. Each class will use pitched hand bells and xylophones to create music and have performance.
With your help, my students will begin to see that performing on real musical instruments can be fun and empowering and can lead to knowledge, love and appreciation of all music.
My students will also learn that music is deeply connected to many different subjects such as geography, social studies, reading and math.
It will allow them to have the empowering experience of sharing what they've learned with our whole school community.
