I have 26 students who love learning and life. They come from immigrant families, and low-income families, but they never let that close doors for them. They continue to surprise me each day with their humbleness, their strength, and their love for family. They tell me stories about their families, their friends, their home countries, and they continually make me smile. They deserve every opportunity given to them.
Each day I strive to show them that they can do anything they want, and be anyone they want to be. No matter what life throws their way, they choose who they are and who they want to be. They must always be responsible, kind, respectful, and hard-working, even when they don't want to be. In the words of our favorite story character, August Pullman, "Choose Kind."
