I teach in a high poverty school. For the last two years, every student in our school receives a free breakfast and lunch daily. We also have a backpack program that fills a backpack with non-perishable items for about 100 students to take home over the weekend, so that they can have food to eat. The parents of my students are very supportive of their children and their learning. However, most don't have the resources to help contribute to our classroom library. My students love to learn and 20 of my 21 students wrote that their yearlong goal this school year was to learn how to read. Having a classroom library with a variety of books will aid my students in reaching their goals.
