My students are mixed. I have Hispanics, Caucasian, Asian, and Black American students. They have different abilities. They really want to learn, but limited funding restrains my capability to fund a majority of projects, especially the wind mill project for which I am requesting funding. There are others like the solar energy projects they would like to engage in next. My students do not like to sit still for 70 minutes. They like it when I combine academics with applicable projects. All our projects are STEM-based. I require that students apply science, mathematics, engineering, and technology concepts to every project. The problem-solving design process is what we apply all the time and last class we were comparing and contrasting the scientific method with the engineering problem-solving or design method. Students were able to see the similarities and differences as they pertain to their Science Fair projects. Finally, students love to collect and analyze data, and write reports.
