Hola! My name is Vanessa Torres, and I am the Spanish teacher at Nursery Road Elementary, where I teach pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. I LOVE teaching Spanish! My goal is to get kids excited about embracing the Spanish language and culture. If you visited our classroom, you would probably see storytelling, skits, games, songs, dances, group collaboration, peso point prize raffles...all done only in Spanish! As much as possible, I try to connect what we do in Spanish class with what students are learning in their homerooms, and I also try to connect with the real world. For example, at the end of the year, I take students out to eat at a Mexican restaurant, where they use the Spanish they learned in class. I'm so proud of my students, and I believe they are getting a strong foundation in language learning that will enrich them for a lifetime!
