Since surviving Hurricane Michael on October 10th, my students' lives have been turned upside down. Most are living in campers, with relatives, or in damaged homes. Before the hurricane, our end of elementary school field trip was being planned for Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia. The trip is still planned, but families are facing very difficult economic times, with job losses and homes destroyed or damaged severely. Providing the ticket and lunch for my students will allow every student to be able to attend the end of the year celebration. Families will provide funding for the buses, but this funding will cut the trip price in half. This would provide such a happy experience for all of the kids. They NEED a wild adventure to look forward to!
