I work at a school where all students receive free lunch and breakfast. I have over 50 students between 2 classes. They are high poverty. A lot of students are homeless, living in a shelter, a hotel, or with others. Parents are supportive, but can't always be present due to working 2 or more jobs.
Their environments may create a barrier to their education, but I strive to encourage them and let them know they don't have to be a product of their environment.
