I am in a Title 1 elementary school with 870 students ranging in age from 3-12. Many of my students are on free and reduced lunch and are fed all three major meals in school. Many of my students are overweight and aren't able to play outside due to safety issues when at home or the family gets takeout regularly without time to exercise. At the school we promote health and wellness, but through students' circumstances and economic issues, best health practices are not always followed by families.
