Many of my students come from low socioeconomic households. Only 30% of our students are reading on-level. Our school is a Title 1 K-5 school, which means over 90% of the student receive free or reduced lunch. It is located in low socioeconomic community. Our students love learning new things. When we started a STEAM club, students were so excited when they found out some of the cool things were were doing. Many of our students do not get the opportunity to experience extra activities outside of school. There are many students who have never visit a library, seen a movie or even been to a museum Our school understands the needs of our students. This is why we work hard to have different activities for our students. In addition to the STEM club, we had a chess club, poetry group, and a percussion group. We believe these programs will increase student achievement. Knowing our school is in a less low socioeconomic community, we try to not only support the child but also the community.
