Research shows that children learn more during play! Younger children need to be taught how to play and socialize with others. They lack the skills necessary to function with others. When students are taught how to work and play with others they will behave better and communicate more with their peers. My students who have communication delays or are non-verbal are able to watch their peers and imitate them. Students learn by watching their peers play.
With these different dramatic play materials my students will be able to use their imagination to be whoever they want to be. With active engaging, dramatic play activities students will learn how to communicate, socialize, and play with others.
I want my students to have different learning experiences and try a variety of centers. Play skills are taught and modeled. My students will learn how to play with toys in different ways, share and take turns, and clean up when they are finished.
