Schools are seeing an increasing number of students who are incapable of self-regulating their emotions and keeping up with the demands of school. A sensory room is a big dream of ours that will allow our students, of all ages and all abilities a safe place to go to regulate themselves. In this room each student can get a break for a short period of time and then be able to return to their classroom and be ready for their school day. We are requesting a variety of items to help students regulate their emotions and senses. Our students need an environment where they won't experience sensory overload. The Jellyfish Lamp, and Light Accents Medusa Silver Floor Lamp will help calm our students whom are sensitive to fluorescent lights in the classroom and hallways. The sensory tools will help our students organize their bodies so that they can improve their focus during their classroom lessons.
With your help, this sensory room will provide a calming and safe place for our students to learn to self-regulate.
This room will also allow for increased concentration in the classroom and improvement in motor planning, socialization and communication. With less behavioral issues, we can increase our learning and time on task. We are looking forward to seeing our students happier and ready to learn and believe that with a dedicated staff, the right resources, and patience, we can help change the lives of our students!
